Jewellery Regulations under the Hazardous Products Acts.
"Many jewelry
items are covered with a protective coating and these coatings contain lead on the metal findings (cheap costume jewelry is
highly noted to have these coatings on the metal findings). A large potion of costume jewelry sold in North America
today contains lead. This not lead exposure risk associated with wearing lead-containing jewelry, but lead exposure
can occur when the jewelry is chewed or sucked on. Lead components of costume jewelry are often covered with a protective
or decorative coating (such as metallic coatings), but such coatings may be readily removed when the item is sucked or chewed.
Young children have a natural habit of putting items in their mouths and lead has a sweetish taste which encourages children
to chew or suck on lead-containing jewelry".
All of Baby Bead Treasures
precious metals are 100% lead free and nickel free, we do not or have not ever used ANY metals that contain lead coating on
the surface or within the precious metals themselves. All of our jewelry findings are .925 or higher sterling silver content,
or 10K, 14K or 20K Gold Filled, or 14K vermeil gold.
Children's
Birthstone Bracelets we use the Czech Fire-Polished Jablonex Lead Free Crystal Beads:
Czech Fire-Polished Jablonex
Glass Crystals have been immensely popular for over two centuries and their appeal is still growing today. Compared to the
Flat Lap-Polished beads, the Fire-Polished beads have three major advantages:
1. No Lead and Very Durable
2.
The intense heat of the furnace "fires" the facets smooth. The result is warm flashes of refracted fire, boiling
up from the interior rather than the intense surface reflections of a Lap-Polished bead.
3. Significantly better pricing
